About Carelly Horticulture

Our Mission

Family owned and operated, owner Anthony has a B.S. in Horticulture from the Ohio State University and over ten years growing experience. Carelly Horticulture started in 2015 as a Monarch (pollinator) waystation service. Starting 2026 we will be branching out to produce fresh microgreens and produce grown by educated and real-world experienced hands. We harvest no later than 24 hours before delivery, unmatched quality and care!

We also provide a greenhouse climate consultancy service for Hoogendoorn IIVO, Priva Connext and other greenhouse climate controller software / general grower training and advice.

Anthony is a proud father to three girls, and husband of nearly ten years to beloved wife. We appreciate you supporting our small local business.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at anthony@carellyhort.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

There are many reasons we follow what's called IPM - integrated pest management. This includes mechanical, cultural and other methods to avoid chemical application, which is usually last in IPM programs. Some examples include - growing indoors in contained modular units with negative airflow, sanitizing tools and equipment after each use, NSF racking made for kitchens that are non-porous and easy to clean. We also typically grow in coconut coir hydroponically, which has less ride-along pests than soil.

Because we grow to order, and are an owner operated company each order takes a great deal of thought time and care. Once we become larger and expand we may be able to reduce or eliminate this requirement.

Because we are hyperlocal, pesticide free and run by a professional horticulturist who has worked in industrial leafy green production - I can take the best of many worlds to make something that won't rot as soon as you buy it. Even down to the cutting, we use a sharpened knife versus mechanical apparatus - yes it takes much longer - but since you get a clean slice instead of a pinch or tear you get a higher quality product with a longer shelf life. We also use a non-toxic food safe desiccant in our deliveries. All of these extra inputs cost us a little, but it's worth it to get you the best possible product.

Basil is extremely cold sensitive and should never go in the fridge. All other varieties should be refrigerated.

Our products are considered a raw-agriculture commodity, there may be a few seed heads or coir that need rinsed off before serving. Wait until using before rinsing for longer shelf life.
